Amitabha Triad Raigo-zu(image of Amitabha's descent to welcome the dead into the Pure Land)
解説をみる
This work was preserved by the Fudankoin Temple, the bodaiji (a temple that takes care of the family over generations) for the Shimosaka family. The Shimosaka family was a local influential family in medieval Japan who lived in the Shimosaka Residence (Shimosakanakacho, Nagahama City). The family also served the sengoku warlord Azai clan. The work depicts the Triad of Amitabha, Kannon, and Seishi welcoming the dead into the Pure Land. Amitabha, Kannon, and Seishi welcome those who believed in Amitabha and who intoned the Nembutsu to the Pure Land. An excellent example of Muromachi period Buddhist imagery, the elegant and careful depiction of the Triad’s ornamentation is noteworthy.
