Documents of the Shimosaka family
The Shimosaka family was a local influential family (jizamurai) that resided in Shimosaka Nakamura, Sakatagun (Shimosakanakacho, Nagahama City). They became active since the Nanboku-cho period and worked as commanders of the Ashikaga Shogunate, serving under the military command of the Kyogoku clan and as a vassal of the Azai clan. The documents of the Shimosaka family consist of 697 items of scrolls, letters, and drawings, allowing you to understand the Shomosaka family and the situation in the area from the Nanboku-cho period to the early Meiji period.
