Documents of the Kakimi family
843 items of old documents from the span of the Muromachi period to the Meiji period of the Kakimi family, an influential family that resided in Miyakawamura (Miyakawacho, Nagahama City). The Kakimi family served as vassals of the Azai clan, a sengoku warlord family in Kohoku. Kakimi Sukezaemon, who served Azai Nagamasa, is especially famous. The picture is of a letter from Nagamasa to Kakimi Sukezaemon 13 days before Nagamasa committed suicide in his residence of Odani Castle. In the letter, Nagamasa expressed his appreciation for defending Odani Castle and gave Kakimi a piece of land. This is a valuable document that allows you to understand the connection between Nagamasa and his vassals.
