Omi yari (huge spear) (engraved as “Made by Gōshū Nagahama Kichiemon”)
An omi yari (a spear with a blade that is 30 cm or more) with a blade of more than 59.4 cm. Engraved with beautiful hiragana and kanji, displaying that it was created by Gōshū Nagahama Kichiemon. Kichiemon was presumably a weaponsmith who lived in Tataramachi within Nagahama Castle that was built by Hideyoshi. The year of creation is somewhere in the Azuchi-Momoyama period, and this is a valuable example of a spear made by a weaponsmith in Nagahama.
