Letter with a vermilion stamp from Oda Nobunaga to Tohachi

A letter from Oda Nobunaga to Tohachi approving Tohachi’s possession of rice paddies. Details of Tohachi are unknown. The letter has a vermilion stamp of Tenka Fubu, a word Oda used. Tenka Fubu is read as “establishing military presence in the territory,” and was considered to mean using military forces to stabilize all of Japan. However, lately, some people suggested a different theory that Tenka means the five areas (Yamato, Yamashiro, Izumi, Kawachi, Settsu) governed by shoguns and the phrase means the restoration of the Muromachi Shogunate.
