Zunari-gata Kabuto (samurai helmet)
A zunari-gata kabuto is a simple and practical helmet made by combining five iron plates. “Zunari-gata” means “head shaped,” a name derived from its head-like shape. This example was preserved by the Kakimi family, local influential people (jizamurai) who also served the Azai clan, sengoku warlords who conquered Kohoku. It is possible the helmet was used by Kakimi Sukezaemon, who served Azai Nagamasa, at the Siege of Odani Castle and Battle of Anegawa, where Nagamasa and Oda Nobunaga fought.
