Matchlock (engraved as “Kunitomo Tobeeshigeyuki”)

The family of Kunitomo Tobee has taken the role of a sub-leader in the group of Kunitomo gunsmiths for generations. Shigeyuki is the 9th generation. In addition to his technical prowess as a gunsmith, Shigeyuki is also renowned as an inventor who invented the pocket brush, a portable writing instrument, and a lighting device called gyokuto. This matchlock has a mainspring inside the mechanism, an octagonal barrel, and a silver inlaying of the abstracted kanji character of “north” on the upper part of the barrel below the rear sight. Its bullet is about 9.4 g.
